Modern warehousing - what the key to success looks like

Scalability of operations, increased security, flexible connectivity or integration of automated systems. With the development of modern technology and the increasing level of automation in warehouses, each of these aspects should be given special attention and care.

Reliable connectivity

One of the key elements for the long-term success of warehouse automation is connectivity. Warehouses are extremely demanding environments for wireless networks. Technologies such as Wi-Fi are finding it difficult to provide adequate coverage in warehouses with increasingly large areas, and complex storage infrastructure can create so-called 'dead zones' preventing access to a stable signal.

In this case, 5G technology is beginning to play a significant role. With the increasing number of autonomous mobile robots, forklifts, tablets, surveillance cameras and other Internet of Things devices, operators no longer have a choice but to look for new and stable solutions. 5G is just such a thing - a technology that offers the capabilities that today's warehouses urgently need in order to function within the changes that the digital revolution brings.

What does the technology bring?

What 5G technology primarily brings is real-time software and data updates. With high connectivity speeds and low latency, warehouses can update software and data instantly, allowing operations to scale as business needs evolve.

No less important is the appropriate security built into the network. "Privaate" on a 5G network provides an additional layer of security through complex firewall mechanisms and data encryption, which minimises the risk of cyber attacks and access to the network by unauthorised devices.

Multi-level security

The stable connectivity provided by 5G networks makes it possible to create smart security fields and plan intelligent routes for mobile robots, which minimises the risk of collisions and increases security in warehouses.

And if this is still not enough for anyone, it is worth adding that with 5G technology we can greatly reduce or even eliminate downtimes, as well as the cost of any possible disruptions. The 5G network copes with network problems, and this in turn already directly minimises maintenance costs.

The reliable connectivity already mentioned also takes human-robot collaboration to the next level. This increases the efficiency of warehouse operations and builds trust between humans and robots, which in turn increases employee productivity.

These few examples thus show, as if by hand, that the implementation of 5G technology is becoming a key element of digital transformation in warehouses, bringing numerous operational benefits and improving the efficiency and safety of operations.
