An emergency situation in which starting the machine is required immediately after the problem, is a very stressful moment. Machine downtime usually involves high costs for the company. This situation requires very quick reactions. Employees responsible for maintaining machine traffic is working under enormous pressure. In an earlier post on our blog we published methods to prevent such problems. If all the previous guidelines have been completed and the problem still arises, we have to deal with it.
Authorized service and spare parts suppliers come with help. While the machines with the latest design service and suppliers are doing great, difficulties appear with the older equipment. Lack of availability of replacement components, eg SIEMENS, OMRON or FANUC, is a real pain for employees. The development of technology and the multitude of solutions or improvements leads to a significant reduction in the production of older types of spare parts. This situation can be easily explained by the desire to provide subassemblies for newer designs and to encourage customers to replace the machine park for a newer one. This solution is expensive and sometimes unprofitable, especially when the machine park works correctly.
The waiting time for a subassembly from the manufacturer may in some cases be up to several weeks, and their prices may be high. The solution to this problem is to obtain spare parts from external suppliers. Companies dedicated to such solutions, eg Automation Trader, can provide lower delivery times and very competitive prices. The approach to the supply of inaccessible spare parts always depends on the company's strategy. The producer is not so interested in supporting older technology, so it is worth using other proven solutions.
