NORD has announced the release of new, efficient engines. The new IE5 + synchronous motors with permanent magnets are extremely energy-efficient and compact, and their smooth surfaces make them the ideal choice for working in harsh and demanding environments.

Impressive performance
The existing generation of NORD IE3 and IE4 motors already offers impressive performance, but the new IE5 + technology goes a step further, providing even more efficiency at low speeds and partial loads, resulting in an additional reduction in operating costs. IE5 + motors are extremely versatile and can be used in a wide range of applications including the food and beverage industry, intralogistics, airport baggage handling, and the postal and parcel industry.
NORD IE5+ motors deliver power ranging from 0.5 – 1.5 hp, torque ranges from 14.2 – 42.5 lb-in., and speeds from 0 – 2,100 rpm, all in a single motor frame. The IE5 + series takes full advantage of NORD's modular concept to reduce system variations. This helps operators lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by reducing spare parts inventories and minimizing administrative costs, as well as setting up lean manufacturing, logistics, inventory and service processes.
Engines for special tasks
NORD IE5 + motors are made of solid aluminum alloy and can weigh just 7 kg compared to much heavier stainless steel units of the same size. This, together with total lengths starting from just 23 cm, makes commissioning and servicing much easier, even in tight spaces.
NORD IE5 + motors are available with various surface protection options, high-solid paints for basic indoor use and severe duty paints for outdoor. For harsher or demanding environmental conditions, IE5+ gearmotors are available with NORD’s patented nsd tupH sealed surface conversion which makes IP69K protection class coating possible. All housing components are surface treated to prevent corrosion along with shafting and hardware in stainless steel to allow NORD units to last longer, even in extreme conditions.
