This is where the robot revolution begins

The Chinese dominate today on many levels, but their appetites are huge and aim higher and higher. Behind the Great Wall, they know that the advantages they gain may bring many benefits over time and that is why they want to become a leader in the next sector. This time it's all about robotics.

The times when the assumptions of the country's development in Poland were included in special plans, which were written for periods of five, seven or even ten years, are long gone. In this respect, China differs significantly from the so-called Western democracies, therefore the adoption of long-term assumptions and top-down control is not surprising there.

We must be a leader

This was the case with the five-year plan that was developed at the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology. Its idea is to make the eastern giant the undisputed leader when it comes to the field of industrial robotics.

Someone might ask at this point: "Well, how? China, where the largest volume of world production comes from, is still not leading in this field? " Well, not, at least not in terms of the production of own machines, which then go to the industry.

Looking at the dry numbers, we can see that China is the undisputed leader in the world when it comes to the number of installed industrial robots. If you look at the past year, there were almost a million of them, or 943,000 to be exact. An impressive result, especially when we add to it the year-on-year growth rate of over 20 percent. However, the Chinese are not going to be content with this. Moreover, such a result does not make them happy at all.

Why? Because only every fourth robot from the aforementioned pool has left the production line of local manufacturers. The rest is imported and this is the moment of greatest concern for Chinese decision-makers who dream of dominating the next episode.

This has to change

Behind the Great Wall they want to completely change the aforementioned trend, but a good plan is one thing, and tough reality is another matter. Here again we need to take a look at the data, which prove that recently China has not only been unable to reduce the difference between imports and domestic production. She even grew larger.

The International Robotics Federation announced in its report that Beijing - only last year - implemented robots for manufacturers outside of China at the level of 123,000 units!

Of course, the largest volumes come from Japan, South Korea, and also from countries associated in the European Union. These numbers mean that the percentage of imports has recently increased by as much as 24 percent.

So it comes as no surprise that China is keen to implement its plan as soon as possible and finally start to close the gap. However, it will be a long time before that happens. In such a system, the Chinese five-year plan may not be enough to give them the position of a world leader.
