Careful with that artificial intelligence

Careful with that artificial intelligence

It is said that there is no turning back from new technologies and artificial intelligence. Apparently AI will completely dominate the next branches of our lives, industries and economy? Supposedly. However, in Europe, they are approaching the subject - at least for now - with a fair amount of caution.

A road of no return?

In the pages of Automation Trader and MATT asking, we have repeatedly touched on the topics of artificial intelligence, technological progress, and innovation in recent months. The speed with which we are forging ahead is incredible, and the impact of innovations on the functioning of the ordinary person increases almost week by week.

Our guests, eminent experts in their fields, also argued that this is actually a road without turning back. What emerged from our conversations was a clear picture of what awaits us in the near future, and one could get the impression that the boom in AI and the use of technological enhancements is unstoppable.

Slower and more cautious

As it turned out, however, many companies are approaching the subject with a considerable dose of caution, as you can read in the latest IDC report.

What does it reveal? In a document with the working title ‘GenAI Survey 2023’, we can read that only 30 per cent of companies on the Old Continent have invested in the purchase of software, training and various consultations on the subject of GenAI, i.e. generative artificial intelligence. Another 20 per cent, on the other hand, are preparing to introduce this type of solution in the near future.

Is this a lot or a little? Given how much is being said about AI and its benefits, one gets the impression that these figures should be much higher. After all, without the support of AI, how can you run your business? There would probably be many who would now be pushing their foreheads in surprise.

What to choose?

However, it is worth remembering what Maria Parysz, one of Poland's top experts on the subject, talked about in the Automation Trader studio. According to her, many entrepreneurs would like to use AI solutions, especially if their competitors are already doing it, but they don't quite know what to choose and where to start. Ergo? The basis is always to analyse your own company and your needs, and only then to choose the solution that is the best, most optimal and most beneficial.

Interestingly, the aforementioned IDC report shows that the situation in the European market could change over the next two years, with the pool of companies that will start using GenAI increasing to as much as 50 per cent.

All this will be the aftermath of increasing productivity - estimated to be up to around 5 per cent - and numerous improvements in the field of optimisation, energy efficiency solutions or supply chains.

What about you? Are you already using the solutions provided by the new technology today? Or are you just scaling up your business and looking for that best option?
