The future has just arrived! Siemens and Microsoft join forces

- Siemens and Microsoft have been working together for more than 35 years and we are therefore even more pleased that by extending our partnership, our customers will be able to go through the digital transformation with an even better suite of solutions, said Tony Hemmelgarn, president of Siemens Digital Inudstries Software.

Train for the future

The fact that the two giants intend to work even more closely together has been reported for several months. The advancing, or rather accelerating, technological development driven by artificial intelligence means that joining forces can give a huge competitive advantage today. This is exactly the state of affairs that was repeatedly highlighted before the Automation Trader guests, who were in no doubt that if one falls asleep today on the subject of digital transformation, one may not catch the train to the future and the world of change that awaits us.

Siemens and Microsoft are well aware of this and have a great feel for what is happening in the world. So it is no surprise that Siemens Digital Industries Software has decided to announce an extension of its partnership with Microsoft. But what is this going to bring to customers? What benefits will they have from it?

Faster, smoother and more efficient

The idea is to make the software we know as Siemens Xcelerator available as a special service linked to Microsoft's cloud platform, Azure.

To put it more precisely, Teamcenter X software from Siemens and Azure, Open AI, and Copilot for Microsoft 365 are to be integrated first, so that customers using them will be able to increase their productivity, be much more responsive, and reduce the time it takes for a product to be brought to market.

All this software lifecycle management is, of course, to be driven by generative artificial intelligence. Employees using the new facilities will have the ability - once a dedicated plug-in has been developed - to keep track of all activities and progress in real time, and thus be able to react and prioritise action.

The future is now

This all sounds very complicated, of course, but the integration of the Siemens and Microsoft systems is aimed at one fundamental thing. Having all the data in one place, communicated even in real time and, on top of that, driven by artificial intelligence, can give you a quite measurable competitive advantage. And that's what it comes down to, being more efficient and being able to make decisions faster than others.

Sebastian Lemieszek of Siemens, who was a guest of Automation Trader, stated at one time that ‘data is the new gold’ and, if so, that working on it and analysing it instantly is the future. A future that is happening right before our eyes.
