NORD DRIVESYSTEMS relies on smart technologies in its production plants. Intelligent and interconnected digital networks enable maximum flexibility and individualisation in the production of electronic components. In order to optimize processes and increase added value, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS uses and tests INDUSTRY 4.0 processes, basing its activities on the principle of benefits that must be commensurate with the expenditure.
Over the decades, NORD has expanded its production plants with its installations and processes, which places other requirements than greenfield projects, which are created from scratch and can be built from scratch in a manner consistent with INDUSTRY 4.0 structures. Nevertheless, NORD continues to digitize and shift its production facilities to smart technologies.
Flexibility
NORD production plants use a modern, automated and flexible production structure that allows the execution of each order in the same way, regardless of its size. Even batch sizes of 1 are workable without major retooling. This is the result of a comprehensive process optimization strategy.
NORD uses an autonomous transport system when receiving the goods. This operator-free system transports goods from the entry point to the automated small parts warehouse. It recognizes the required source and destination, loads the transport containers automatically and guides itself. It also automatically responds to any obstacles it encounters. Once the transport boxes have been transferred to the conveyor belt, the rest of the process is carried out using NORDAC LINK. Each item at the time of receipt is assigned a 2D code, on the basis of which the goods can be flawlessly monitored until the moment of use. Inspection is also possible the other way around, based on the serial number of the device, until the goods are accepted.

NORDAC LINK are flexible, intelligent field distributors with a convenient drive control system in a decentralized installation, which can be freely configured depending on the requirements and application. NORDAC LINK can be integrated into all Industry 4.0 architectures thanks to the freedom of choice of peripheral devices such as digital and analog inputs and outputs, bus system and security.
NORD constantly tries to optimize processes to increase their efficiency. NORD drives are network-ready, stand-alone and are scalable in terms of their range of functions and power, which is in line with the INDUSTRY 4.0 definition.
