AI drives economic growth in Poland

Artificial intelligence is gaining more and more popularity in Poland, playing a key role in the country’s digital transformation and unlocking entirely new economic opportunities.

According to the latest independent report, “Unlocking AI’s Potential in Poland’s Digital Decade – Phase II,” conducted by Strand Partners on behalf of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the percentage of Polish companies using AI has shot up by an impressive 36% in the past year – the fastest growth in the entire EU. This remarkable progress puts Poland at the forefront of AI integration across Europe.

Unlocking €134 Billion

The economic impact of this accelerated AI adoption in Poland is significant. Strand Partners' study suggests that keeping up this momentum could unlock an additional €134 billion (about 576 billion PLN!) for the Polish economy by 2030.

Currently, 30% of companies across the country have implemented AI into their processes, and the vast majority of them have seen positive effects on business value (83%) and cost savings (79%).

Overcoming barriers

As the demand for AI skills grows, Polish companies face the challenge of recruiting highly qualified professionals. To tackle this, 85% of businesses are ready to offer higher salaries, with an average proposed increase of 28%, for candidates who have skills in AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

What else did the report reveal? One notable finding is the lack of clear legal regulations regarding AI implementation. This was flagged as a significant barrier by 32% of companies in the defense sector.

There's no denying that establishing solid regulatory frameworks is crucial for the smooth integration of AI technology while ensuring compliance with ethical standards.

AI Implementation Across Sectors

Defense: The defense sector in Poland stands out as a leader in AI adoption, with 71% of companies already using the technology. They utilize AI for quality control, content creation, fraud detection, and strengthening cybersecurity. However, challenges like recruiting qualified talent (41%) and unclear regulations (32%) slow down further progress.

Manufacturing: 47% of companies in this sector have adopted AI solutions, mainly for quality control, customer service, and process automation, leading to improved efficiency (62%) and better decision-making (nearly 50%).

Financial Services: 40% of companies in this field use AI for financial analysis, predictive analytics, and human resource management, driven by the promise of increased productivity.

Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs): Although lagging behind larger corporations, 25% of Polish SMEs have adopted AI tools, mainly for predictive analytics (33%) and system automation (28%), which have led to revenue growth (33%) and cost reductions (33%).

Path to a Digital Future

As Poland embraces AI at an unprecedented pace, the country is well-positioned to become a European leader in digital transformation.

However, to fully realize AI's potential, coordinated efforts are needed to develop specialized skills and establish clear regulatory guidelines. By overcoming these challenges, Poland will be able to harness the power of AI to drive economic prosperity, enhance national security, and support digital transformation across various industries.
