Finger Lakes Community College has been awarded by FuzeHub Innovation Found a production grant of $ 50,000 to support collaboration with New Scale Robotics, accelerating the development of precision measuring and gripping tools for a wide range of collaborative robots.
New Scale will work with Dr Sam Samanta, head of the Instrumentation and Controls Program at FLCC, and his students to develop a Smart Platform that will extend New Scale Robotics' plug-and-play compatibility to many additional cobot brands.
The new cobot will be purchased and placed in FLCC as part of the production subsidy.
Dr Samanta will act as a consultant in the Smart Platform development project and can use cobot to teach students, demonstrate cobot applications, and problem-solve design issues.
FuzeHub is the center of the Production Extension Partnership Program in the state of New York, supported by the Empire State Development Department of Science, Technology and Innovation.
It is a non-profit organization providing small and medium-sized manufacturers with access along with the guidance, to an extensive network of industry experts, programs and resources to solve problems related to business development. Manufacturing grants from the fund are available to non-profit organizations in the state of New York that propose innovative projects that will be undertaken with small and medium-sized producers or companies at an early stage, implementing projects relevant to the manufacturing sector.
The innovation fund aims to boost technology development and commercialization throughout New York.
